A. "Vence" comes from the root word "vencer" meaning " to expire" in spanish. That is the Use-by date.

Q. I live in the second floor and I have a balcony that faces the west and I want to get a climbing vine that has beutiful flowers, beautiful color and fast growing. If there are pictures, I will be thankfull. Is there a climbing vine that just climb around the vence of the balcony without climbing on the wall? How long does a climbing vine need to grow? I live in Kansas if that helps.

A. You have two broad choices -- an annual vine that is not frost-hardy but will grow fast and give you lots of flowers for one season then die, for example mandevillea, thunbergia ( Black-eyed Susan vine). Or, you can grow a hardy vine that will survive frost and grow for many years, such as wisteria. The downside of perennial hardy vies is that their flowering season is shorter.

What are the conditions of Provence in the winter?
Q. I am looking to spend January and February in one of Provence France's small villages. The villages I am considering are Saint Paul de Vence, Gordes, and La Fontain de Vaucluse. I have heard these regions are cold, rainy and empty during these months. Is that true? I want ot make sure stores and restaurants will be open. Is everything shut down during the winter?
Asked by Makena - Sat Apr 10 17:27:11 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Winter is changeable wherever you are in Europe. In this area of Provence the average daily maximum would be 10c and the average minimum 2c. While it can be very rainy and windy, in Provence there are always nice sunny days in between. This is not tourist season so many places do close down over winter, and there may only be locals around. Accommodation in these villages can be quite expensive, so check that out before making a decision. You will also need to look at transport, as it could be necessary to have a hire car for the time you're there.

A. There are ways to get around your waiting dilemma; I have a question to ask you and then I have to check on something but I probably won't have any valid information until tomorrow, and that's if you would like me to try. However, the question I want to ask is none of the business of some of the ruder people here on Answers. If you can e-mail me a list of a few places you would like to find a new home, in order by which you prefer most. Then I will send back the questions I need to have your answers to and I will pursue this possibility. Until then try to keep your sweet spirit up by remembering that at least in one little BIG city in the SW US, there are people trying to get some kind of help for you and we won't ever give up on you.

A. The problem is, that you must be more careful, not to just tell your views to just anyone,...let them get to know you first, and then, after they like you, you can eventually get into some deeper topics like this...when you approach people, and even though you are just being honest,...they might find it offensive at first, as they don't know you...the feeling you have, well, I have my opinion as to what I would call it, but it might offend you, so I will keep it to myself...I personally, wouldn't go around telling ANY group of people, that I didn't like them...even though i thought it.

A. You should read the book "British as a second language". Its by a Kenyan on his experience in the UK, and how he was treated by the Brits. Get away from them ,you can not. Although I live in sunny Africa I'm still confronted by these rude people daily, in my own country! We are in the same boat. Just smile and wave, you know you are better than them. Also you should try deal with the trauma, speak to someone.

Just remember that you have come a long way in the short time I have known you. A lot of the responses I've seen you get have been wonderful tips. Please know you are not alone in any of this and that you have friends rootin' for ya. It's likely not a personal affront to you that you're not getting the response from these people. It's probably they have some issues of their own they're dealing with or maybe some things have come up that's pulling them away from the computer and they're not on as frequently as they like. A. If your dad is 1/4 and your mom is none, that makes you 1/8. And you'd be classified as either white or French, depending on how specifically you want to be labelled.

If you ask for info in English they'll respond in English. - this place is also close to the Accademia and just a 10 minute walk to Saint Mark's square. It's run by the local church. The rooms are comfy... and there is a nice court year. Only pblm here is that there is a curfew.
