A. "Vence" comes from the root word "vencer" meaning " to expire" in spanish. That is the Use-by date.

A Winter Daybreak Above Vence ANALYSIS!!?!?!?!?!?
Q. The night's drifts Pile up below me and behind my back, Slide down the hill, rise again, and build Eerie little dunes on the roof of the house. In the valley below me, Miles between me and the town of St.-Jeannet, The road lamps glow. They are so cold, they might as well be dark. Trucks and cars Cough and drone down there between the golden Coffins of greenhouses, the startled squawk Of a rooster claws heavily across A grove, and drowns. The gumming snarl of some grouchy dog sounds, And a man bitterly shifts his broken gears. True night still hangs on, Mist cluttered with a racket of its own. Now on the mountainside, A little way downhill among turning rucks, A square takes form in the side of a dim wall. I hear a bucket rattle or… [cont.]

A. This piece of poetic prose describes a winter daybreak in the middle of January as experienced by a person who lives in Vence, a town on a steep mountainside above St. Jeannet (and Nice), within view of the Mediterranean Sea. At first it is still dark and he makes out the newly fallen snow on the hillside above him and in the valley below him and on the roofs below. He can see a lighted road and hear the noises of early morning activity, cars and trucks, coughing and shifting gears. He hears a rooster crow. A dog growls. The lighted greenhouses below (Vence is known for flower growing and the lights make the flowers grow even at night) look like golden coffins to him. (A simile if you are looking for one!) In the second stanza he hears… [cont.]

A. There are ways to get around your waiting dilemma; I have a question to ask you and then I have to check on something but I probably won't have any valid information until tomorrow, and that's if you would like me to try. However, the question I want to ask is none of the business of some of the ruder people here on Answers. If you can e-mail me a list of a few places you would like to find a new home, in order by which you prefer most. Then I will send back the questions I need to have your answers to and I will pursue this possibility. Until then try to keep your sweet spirit up by remembering that at least in one little BIG city in the SW US, there are people trying to get some kind of help for you and we won't ever give up on you.

A. The problem is, that you must be more careful, not to just tell your views to just anyone,...let them get to know you first, and then, after they like you, you can eventually get into some deeper topics like this...when you approach people, and even though you are just being honest,...they might find it offensive at first, as they don't know you...the feeling you have, well, I have my opinion as to what I would call it, but it might offend you, so I will keep it to myself...I personally, wouldn't go around telling ANY group of people, that I didn't like them...even though i thought it.

A. a literal translation of the line is: "your curse/witchcraft woos me" but the meaning is more likely along the lines of, "I'm under your spell" or something like that hope that helps! (A more common use of the verb "pretender", as in "tu maleficio me PRETENDE" translates as "to try" or "to intend", which might make it a little confusing, especially for online translators, which tend to give the most literal, and often incorrect translations. However, the verb can also mean to woo [a woman])

A. Ooh, someone used a translating machine with the foreseeable nonsensical effect! Oh well, here we go (a rough, but at least human translation, sometimes the translation has to be free): Love is a fire that burns without being seen; It's a wound that hurts without being felt; It's an unhappy happiness; It's a pain that drives you crazy without hurting; It's a wishing no more for what you like; It's walking lonely within a crowd; It's never being contented with contentedness; It's seeking to find oneself in losing oneself; It's wishing to be a prisoner of wishes; It's serving who you have overcome, you the victor; It's being faithful to someone who kills us. But how can its favour cause friendliness in human hearts, if love itself is so… [cont.]

A. It's usually pretty nice here in October. After about the second week of October, we get some foggy days here in northern Italy. When you're in Venice get out early in the morning. It's pretty magical walking around in the city in the fog. It's easy to believe you're in the middle of the renaissance. You can get some great photos of Piazza San Marco in the fog. Tuscany can have some wet days, but it's usually quite pleasant to be out exploring. Bring a small folding umbrella that you can carry in a pocket or purse. Layers are a good idea too. It can be cold over night and the days can get to be pretty warm. October has some interesting festivals in or near Tuscany. One of the big events of the year is the Eurochocolate festival in… [cont.]
