A. I think the money that goes into pretty things for the church could be better spent helping those who can't help themselves.

If the weather is nice enough, is it okay to wear shorts in Venice? Any other tips for packing/sightseeing?
Q. My father-in-law is off to Venice when the weather is warmer and wondered if shorts would be appropriate. Are shorts okay in restaurants and bars during the day? I assume ladies and gents should be more respectfully covered if visiting a cathedral.
Asked by K H - Sun Apr 20 12:48:23 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Yes, it's ok to wear shorts. But I'd recommend a more distinguished look of slacks and shirt. When in Rome . . . dress as they do. In a resort area, sure, shorts are very appropriate. And then there's tons of leisure time to head back to your room to change for dinner. However, in an urban area, especially in Venice, you'll rather continue exploring all day instead of heading back to your room (possibly on the other side of town - almost an hour's walk) to change for dinner. So dress like you'll stay out all day, which business casual will cover more bases than shorts will. Save the shorts for the sojourns in the Tuscan Countryside. Dressing in light colors should help with the heat, if he's worried about that. And looking less… [cont.]

What do we need to plan well for our son's trip to Italy?
Q. My mom is taking our 14 year old son and his two cousins to Italy for a two week trip. They will travel from Rome to Capri and FLorence, Pisa, Milan, and Venice, and Sorrento (for Pompeii.) The schedule, including sights, hotels and restaurants are set, so I can't pass on any "must see" tips. However, 'must brings' 'must do before hand' 'must know' 'must get this innoculation' 'must not consume this type of food/wine/ would we really helpful. I'd like to help him pack well enough, so my son has little to carry, but enough to wear to a nice rest/cathedral and for walking/touring. Thanks so much for any information you have to share! A. rubber shoes (flip flops) for the showers, even in nice hotels small compact umbrella - easier to use and get dry than a rain coat. small day-pack - for hat, sunscreen, water bottle camera and cards etc. When I was there last I was approached by many folk (mainly American) to ask if they sold batteries/film/etc in Italy! Yes they do. It is mainly a cash economy so you should make inquiries at your bank about accessing cash in the places they are going. i.e. very few places accept credit cards and the ones that do charge at least a 1% fee to do so. Tell him to listen and look, take heaps of photos and read up about the places he'll be going before he goes. For an enagagement ring, what is a nice prong setting?
Q. My boyfriend is making me decide what prong setting to use for my engagement ring. I don't like big diamonds so he got me a .45 ct round diamond but what prong setting should i choose among the xprong, cathedral or tiffany style setting? 4 or 6 prongs? I just want my small diamond to look radiant with brilliance? Thanks in advance.

A. mine is in a simple four prong style, and it captures light very well because there isnt much to get in the way of it. i will try to find a picture of it to show you what i mean. hold on one sec while i look. ok, this isnt the clearest picture, and its not my exact ring (i think mine was special orderd) but the style of the prongs is very similar. because the light can hit the diamond from every angle, it sparkles much more. i also happen to think you get more shine out of white gold and diamonds than just regular yellow gold. it always catches my eye more than yellow gold because yellow gold does have a tendency of blending into your skin sometimes. round is a good shape for diamonds. its very classic and elegant, and a lot… [cont.]

cathedral or small church?
Q. can anyone help me decide... im planning to have a church wedding but im confused if i'll go for a cathedral or a small church... the cathedral got a long aisle and very nice interior with high ceiling. the small church obviously the aisle is not that long compared to cathedral. And to think i only have 150guests so ifeel the cathedral is too big for my wedding affair. which one is better??? both got a nice ambiance. both are nice on pictures... does the size of the church matters if you want to have an intimate wedding??? honestly i want to walk down the aisle that is long like in the cathedral but if i only have 150 guests i feel the cathedral would be empty.

How would i create a dome/cathedral?
Q. Like it's for a 9th grade world history project. i have a pretty good idea but if you have better and cheap ways of making a good dome/cathedral would be nice. I need to make a model of the Florence Cathedral built by Filippo Brunelleschi. (a Florentine artist during the Renaissance) i wish to make a good model of the cathedral. the thing about that foam idea is that. it is supposed to be an art project thingy, and more realistic than foam you know. this is for a 9th grade project so i'm not sure if that would be too good. xD thanks for the suggestion though.
Asked by beastatlax - Tue Mar 3 22:08:11 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Go to your local craft store and get some art foam. Cut a foam ball in half for the dome. Buy some sheets of foam core poster board for walls and whatnot. Other supplies you might need include: Xacto knives, glue, paint/markers, pencils.

A. Based on what you want to see and enjoy you have at least two options; Panglao island, Bohol - they have nice resorts and reasonable room rates, nice food, not too quiet, the Phils oldest church can be found in Bohol the Baclayon Church. although Puerto Galera is the diving hub of the Phils but the Visayas offers more diving sites and lots of wonderful dive spots. For diving check this out; for shopping go to Tagbilaran major shops are Alturas, Bohol quality and Marcella from Bangkok take either the Philippine airlines and the Thai airways to Cebu. From Cebu transit flight to Bohol. Make sure your hotel bookings includes hotel and airport transfers. Your second option probably better than the first is Lapu Lapu City in Mactan… [cont.]

Q. I have Audacity 1.3.9, and I have to sing something and edit it for a project at school. I need to add a nice reverberation effect to it, but every time I use the "Gverb" effect, the vocals sound like they're being sung in a bathroom. A. Here are some settings that may work nicely for you: "The Quick Fix" These settings add a slight sense of depth to any sound clip that is flat. While it won't give you any sort of echo, it will give you the sense that you actually recorded it in a room where sound sort of bounces off. Roomsize: 40 m Reverb time: 4 s Damping: 0.9 Input bandwidth: 0.75 Dry signal level: 0 dB Early reflection level: -22 dB Tail level: -28 dB "Bright, small hall" This is excellent if you want to create an effect which sounds like you are singing in a small, empty little poetry club. A. It's the same as a weekly Mass, but a bit longer. More singing and celebration -- but overall it remains the same: Procession Blessing Opening Prayer Old Testament Reading Psalm New Testament Reading Holy Gospel Homily Nicene Creed Gifts Liturgy of the Eucharist (including The Our Father and the Offering of Peace) Communion Concluding prayer The End. Merry Christmas, and I hope you enjoy our Christmas Mass!

Jesus said that we must help those in need. polly... i don't preach to people about feeding the poor, catholics are the ones who go around quoting jesus sayying how we all need to give money to charity, i have never said that as i am NOT a hypocryte. Is it possible to have a big and elegant wedding in D.C. for $40,000? If so, where?
Q. I am planning on getting married in Washington D.C./MD/VA area. However, I live 18 hours away, so it is very hard for me to plan everything. A. I've had a lot of friends get married in that area. Just to let you know the best deals for ceremonies/receptions are the area hotels. Plus if you have lots of out of town guests, the hotel will give you a deal on room rates for them. And often you and your groom will get your room free. Also if you are set on having a ceremony at a church, a good place to have the ceremony would be at a place called Martin's Crosswinds, they have locations all over the place.
